Ends 9/9 - Consider becoming a North Dakota Master Gardener volunteer in collaboration with the North Dakota State University Extension Service. The Master Gardener training program will Sept. 9 - Dec. 2 with breaks for holidays. The course will be offered online and in classroom, training will be held every Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Training will be held in the Burleigh County NDSU Extension office on East Bismarck Expressway, along the frontage road by Buckstop Junction. 9/11 - On Sunday, September 11, 2016, starting at 5 p.m., St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague, ND will be hosting their annual fall supper in the basement of the church. The menu includes Swiss steak, hamburger-rice, dressing, homemade pie, and all the trimmings. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. at the K of C Hall, located on Main Street in Hague.
9/11 - 69th Annual St. Hildegard Church Fall Dinner in Menoken, ND (10 miles east of Bismarck on Highway 10) on Sunday, September 11. Stop by for sausage, roast beef, homemade buns, pies and all the trimmings from 11 AM – 3 PM. Meal Cost: $10 adult; $5 for children 4 - 10 years; Free for children 3 yrs. and under. Activities include: Games, bingo, music and sale of home baked goods, fresh garden produce, religious articles, and crafts plus a white elephant sale.
Ends 9/12 - The Bismarck Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizen Police Academy to be held from September 8 to November 17. The purpose of the citizen police academy is to allow the public to experience the many aspects of police work first hand. The academy consists of a series of classes taught by members of the Bismarck Police Department & hands on training as well. The academy will be eleven weeks long, meeting Thursday evenings. Classes are scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each night. There is no cost to participate in the academy. Ends 2016 - For the second year, in an effort to beautify our community and provide home-grown produce for more Bismarck residents, NDSU Extension Service-Burleigh County and Bismarck Burleigh Public Health are teaming up to offer free, portable garden boxes to low-income residents of Bismarck. Each box is approximately 24” by 18”, making them small enough to fit on a patio or balcony and light enough to be moved as needed. These will be distributed in the spring of 2016. Planting materials, including soil and seeds, will also be provided.
