Billy Currington is putting last spring's incident behind him.  Savannah, Georgia's WSAV-TV says the country star offered a no contest plea Friday afternoon to a charge of abuse of an elderly person, which he made under the state's First Offender Act.

He was sentenced to five years probation and fined one-thousand dollars.  He's also been ordered to go to anger management classes, and to stay away from the victim.

Currington's case stemmed from an incident near his Tybee Island home back in April involving the singer and tour boat operator Charles Harvey Ferrelle.  The 70-year-old boat captain claimed Currington began screaming at him and threatened his life while he was carrying his customers on his boat past the singer's residence.  Currington was indicted ten days later, and surrendered to authorities within 24 hours of the indictment.  He pled not guilty to the charges at a hearing last month.
