City of Bismarck Public Works Service Operations will begin four-day residential garbage collection effective June 12. Residential garbage collection routes and collection calendar dates will change for some customers.
The four-day collection system is designed to maximize efficiency while successfully meeting the needs of citizens and solves the Friday carryover of garbage collection until Monday during holiday weeks. This eliminates the need for public works employees to assist with collecting garbage after holidays that resulted in them not being able to achieve the objectives of their divisions.
The Bismarck Board of City Commissioners voted March 14, to move ahead with the four-day per week curbside collection schedule, Monday through Thursday, after study and evaluation of the solid waste management collection system conducted by HDR, Inc. and from key recommendations and consideration received from citizens at two public input meetings held in February.
