Miranda Lambert Gives $160K In Grants To Animal Shelters Across The Country

Miranda Lambert is not only known for her successful music career, but also for her love for animals. In 2009, the country singer and her mother, Bev Lambert, started an organization dedicated to ending animal suffering and homelessness called MuttNation Foundation.

In honor of MuttNation's 11th anniversary, the organization gave out $160,000 in surprise grants to animal shelters across the country. The initiative, called Mutts Across America, started in 2015. Over the last five years, it has awarded more than $1 million in grants to over 300 shelters.

"We both feel such a deep connection with animals and have so much compassion for the ones that need us the most," Lambert says, noting, "Between me and my mom, we have more than 15 shelter dogs, cats and rabbits. We can’t remember a time when we didn’t have rescues living with us."

She continues, "Mutts Across America lets us reward the hard-working shelters and give a ‘paw up’ to their lucky mutts. Our big message is that we encourage everyone to adopt from their local shelter or, if they’re not in the market for a new dog or cat, volunteer at their local rescue."

Lambert's recently announced her plans to combine bother her passion for music and animals. As the country star embarks on her "Wildcard Tour," she will simultaneously run MuttNation's Fill the Little Red Wagon campaign in collaboration with Tractor Supply.

Fill the Little Red Wagon offers fans the opportunity to bring food, treats, supplies and donations for animals to any tour location. The donations then go to a local animal shelter in every city where Lambert performs.

"Fill the Little Red Wagon is one my favorite MuttNation programs," Lambert says. "It lets me combine my music with mutts by working with a shelter in every town we play. Shelters always need help and, with the support of my fans, volunteers, Tractor Supply and Live Nation, we’ve collected literally tons of food, toys and supplies for mutts nationwide."

Fellow country singer, Cody Johnson and Lanco are opening acts for the "Wildcard Tour." The Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum will also join Lambert for a few select stops. Tickets to the tour are available now.
