Kelsea Ballerini Says Taylor Swift Inspired Her Move To Nashville

Kelsea Ballerini is giving credit to Taylor Swift for inspiring her to move to Nashville to chase her dreams years ago. After two years of college, Ballerini decided to start working in the industry, first as a songwriter.

"I grew up loving music, but I never knew that you could just choose to be a singer like that. I was from a small town in Knoxville so you grow up to be a vet or something that you see other people doing around you," Ballerini said in a recent interview. "And until I saw a girl named Taylor move to Nashville, I didn’t know that I could do that."

Since starting her journey in music, Ballerini has been quite successful. Her debut single, "Love Me Like You Mean It" was the first song by a female artist to debut at number one since Carrie Underwood in 2006 and that was just the beginning. Her two follow-up singles, "Dibs" and "Peter Pan" were also chart-topping hits. All three singles were from her debut album, The First Time, released in 2015.

Ballerini followed up her breakout album with the release of Unapologetically in 2017. This project included hits like "Legends," "I Hate Love Songs" and "Miss Me More." The first two albums Ballerini says were "safe and comfortable." Now, as she gears up for the release of a new album, she's excited to show fans something new.

“This time I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to get in rooms with people who were outside of country. I wanted to get in rooms with people that are just so much better than me and learn and push myself, because why not?" Ballerini explains.

Ballerini's self-titled album is due out March 20, 2020. Her recent single, "homecoming queen?" will be included on the new project along with "Club" and "la." Stay tuned for more details on the new album, Kelsea.
