Carly Pearce read a note she wrote to herself in her teen years, proving that she envisioned her life as a superstar singer-songwriter long before she moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

Pearce opened the hand-written letter penned by her 14-year-old self during the CMT Defining: Carly Pearce special, set to premiere on Thursday night (March 30) at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. She read the letter, dated June 9, 2004, aloud: “Dear Self, wow, I have a lot of memories in my life so far. Who knows what I will be doing when I open this letter? Hopefully, I will be on my way to becoming a famous recording artist in Nashville.”

“Well, I think I did that,” Pearce said. Now 32, the award-winning singer-songwriter is known for smash-hit country anthems like “What He Didn’t Do,” “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde, “Every Little Thing,” “Next Girl,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Lee Brice, “Hide The Wine” and other unforgettable fan-favorites.

“I’ve thought up to date I’ve been honest in interviews, but this one took it to a whole new level,” Pearce wrote in an Instagram caption as she shared the clip from the upcoming CMT special, which airs ahead of the 2023 CMT Music Awards on Sunday (April 2). “I'll take you back to my Nashville show when we recorded the ‘Live From Music City’ album, remember some of the highlights of my career thus far, and show you a look inside some of the hardest moments of my life. 🤍”

Pearce is the latest addition to the all-star iHeartCountry Festival lineup on May 13, at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Fans across the country will able to tune in to all of the incredible live performances at this year's iHeartCountry Festival as the event will be broadcast on iHeartRadio country stations nationwide, and on iHeartRadio.com as well as the iHeartRadio app on Saturday, May 13th at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
