New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he personally suggested to be pulled from his team's blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Rodgers, 41, played his final snap during the first play of the fourth quarter before being replaced by veteran backup Tyrod Taylor, at which point the Bills were ahead 33-0 and had already pulled their starting quarterback, MVP candidate Josh Allen, from the game for backup Mitch Trubisky.

"I mean it was 33-0, we were sitting there and I said at some point probably go to Tyrod [Taylor] here, huh? Then the next play [Trubisky] threw a screen for a touchdown. So it was 40-0," Rodgers said of his conversation with interim coach Jeff Ulbrich while addressing reporters during his postgame press conference.

Rodgers finished Sunday's (December 29) game with 112 yards and two interceptions on 12 of 18 passing. Taylor, who started three seasons for the Bills prior to their selection of Allen in 2018, threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 11 of 14 passing.

Rodgers, who was acquired by the Jets in a trade with the Green Bay Packers in 2023, is facing one of the worst seasons of his career, throwing for 3,623 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 345 of 548 passing, while the Jets have gone 4-12 in 16 games, resulting in the firings of former head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas.
